The Hellenic Museum, as part of its ongoing support of contemporary artists, has collaborated with illustrator Natalie Rompotis and lifestyle brand Salt&Pepper to create limited edition mugs reimagining a selection of the mythical muses of poetry, astronomy, dance and music.
In ancient Greek mythology, the Muses were nine goddesses who embodied the arts, sciences and literature. They were considered to be the source of the knowledge found withing lyric songs, music, poetry and myths.
Urania is the muse of astronomy. Her symbol is a celestial globe and her gaze is focused on the heavens, where she can read the future through the stars.
